Preparation

Tomorrow I leave for Merida, Mexico located on the Yucatan Peninsula. I am so excited!! There are Mayan ruins, caves (which means spelunking - a word I love), lazy beach towns, dancing, and an abundance of sunshine :)

I will be living in Merida for about six months taking classes at a Mexican university and fulfilling an internship in a predominantly Mayan community. Throughout this I will be seeing firsthand the impact of globalization on the local community. I also have the awesome opportunity to work with members of the community to initiate a program for their benefit. Throughout this all I will be staying with a host family in Merida. I am not sure what to expect, but I know this will be a life changing experience and I cannot wait for the good times and opportunity to overcome any challenges presented by studying in a foreign country.

My first obstacle: packing. However, so far I have managed to take this mess

and turn it into this
